Where by video game companies these days are well aware that *ahem* gratuitous exploitation of sexual innuendo definitely sells for those in the mature gaming audience, Ubisoft has upped the ante. They’re coming out with what could be the most risque game to ever hit the shelves and it hardly even involves a scantily clad character.
Digitaltrends.com is right saying that it was only a matter of time til game companies caught on to the more creative uses for Wii’s motion controllers. I guess Ubisoft was just waiting for another console to catch on to the trend. With the PS3 now utilizing similar tech, I guess now was the right time for them. And what better way to exploit both consoles’ motion controller’s than to come out with something that’s more likely to find itself on gaming shelves of frat houses and night clubs. ‘We Dare‘ (Yes, that is its title) could not have been more so aptly titled as it engages players to perform rather unconventional ways of competing. Or flirting. Think Wii Sports: Dating edition. Still don’t get it? Here’s the TV spot.
Play.com sums it up quite nicely:
We Dare is a sexy, quirky party game that offers a large variety of hilarious, innovative and physical, sometimes kinky, challenges. The more friends you invite to the party, the saucier the game!
While not recommended for the minors, the activities involve rather juvenile acts of flirting. Presumably, just like a lot of Wii’s party titles, this is not for gamers who prefer hunkering down for a frag fest on a couch with a bowl of Cheetohs. But don’t think for one second that it would be limited to a pair of couples out on a double date to play this game. I can think of a few friends who’d probably be picking this up simply just for how crazy it is. Take away all the innuendo and you’ll get just another (un)creatively titled party game chock full of mini games.
With this title out, I guess it won’t be long till game devs come out full force in bringing out their creativity. VGCats seems to know where this is going.
