Starbucks Happy Hour

Last Monday, May 2, 2011, Starbucks branches around Metro Manila kicked off their Happy hour promo.

For 2 hours of everyday of the  first week of May, Starbucks patrons get to have their Frappuccino’s of choice for half price.  Also patrons, may only get 2 drinks at a time.  Given how the promo is set up, bedlam ensued at every Starbucks branch during lunch.

The following events took place between 1pm and 2pm on May3rd, 2011.

Not the right way to deal with marriage problems

A disgruntled wife has now brought to the internet her ire for her husband’s Star Wars  collection. So, she decides to upload a video to youtube asking what she can do to get her hubby to clean up his collection by setting fire to a vintage figure of Boba Fett. Yes, you read right. She set fire to a VINTAGE action figure of BOBA FETT.

Heidi is a real housewife who is fed up with her husband’s obsessive hobby of toy collecting. Endless pleading with him to clean up their house has fallen on deaf ears. She has decided to make a statement by gradually destroying her husband’s star wars and other toy figures. Beginning this week, she will creatively reduce his collection by what viewers suggest.

As any smart and sensible human being would do, there’s more than one way to get your partner’s attention about something that irks you. Taking a candle to your other half’s prized possessions are often left to really, REALLY bad break up situations such as a cheating husband/wife.  Seriously, whatever happened to being supportive of your partner’s hobbies and such.

As per her seeking advice, here’s my suggestion: Sign up for the Witness Protection program.  Because once this video goes viral, there will be no hiding from the droves of rabid Star Wars fans who will want to see her head on a stick.

Save Nu107 FM!!!

Received this bit of news on my mail box.  And as such, this is rather disheartening.  Where the airwaves are populated by auto-tuned mainstream pop music, and even the illiterate can coarsely sing along to the most played out latest K-pop single; perhaps one of the few local FM stations that has managed to hold on to it’s identity and not sell out to ratings wars, NU107 is at the throes of having its identity be erased and be turned into nothing more than just another FM station riding the airwaves of pop.

It’s very inspiring to see that at toycollectors.da, a group I moderate on deviantart.com is thriving with us averaging 3-5 photo submissions a day.  It’s also quite nice to see how some of our fellow toy lovers/collectors who are less experienced in photography are having their creative noodles stirred.  It is as I pointed out to a slightly intimidated member of ours recently; it isn’t in the camera gear or equipment that we have but in the creativity and the discerning eye of the one who wields it.  My advise, don’t be afraid to experiment with angles and lighting.
