Youya has arrived

I picked up Youya, an Iplehouse EID Asa with B version make up, when I was in HK recently. The wig, also from Iplehouse, I picked up after. Youya as I have named her, is my first full resin Asian ball jointed doll.

Just a quick Etymology of her name. Her full name is Youya LeiSheng (优雅雷声) – “Elegant Thunder”.  I chose it with the idea that though with hereelegance, she still carries an air of fierceness to her.  One who would not take to being side lined lightly.

And as my first full resin, my first impression was, “My god is she heavy.”  Probably weighs as much as my 3 Dollfie Dreams combined, maybe even more. She’s also significantly taller, standing at 65cm. It also means that none of the DD outfits I have fits her. Read: more purchases or I have got to earn my merit badge in sewing.  Oh, lordy~ I need to find me a better paying job. Some where in Hong Kong would be most inviting.

For the people who’ve seen her in person, she’s gotten a lot of comments that her face looks eerily real. What do you guys think?

Dollpa24: After Event

Volks International Website has already launched their Dollpa24 After Event page.  Of course headlining it is DD Saber Lily.  However, the item pages are all still empty.  I would say that we could give it a few days after the Volks Japan Lottery this weekend that we can expect to see what crops up for us.

All Hallow’s Eve is just around the corner and I know I promised a Halloween themed Dollfie edition.  But since things on my end have been rather busy and crazy these past few weeks in both life and work, I wasn’t able to do much photographing.

Welcome to another serving of the Dollfie Dream Edition of this blogs weekly contribution of senseless entertainment to the interwebs.

While it might not be for everyone, dolls have definitely become genre all their own for collectors much like the die-cast car collections and the custom vinyl toys.  And what makes dolls so special is that after they’ve been “adopted”, all the while being a basic character created by the manufacturer, or a limited edition based on a fictional character or person in real life, they get a personality all their own, thanks to the limitless boundaries in customizing them.  In fact, they can be so diverse that the characteristics bestowed upon them by their owners-cum-creators/parents reflect that of their own.

So, in this week’s serving, join me as I try to diversify and show just some of the dolls which have struck me as having developed their own personalities as presented by their adopted parents.

Gaming Musumes

Last weekend, during my trips to the local mall, I stumbled upon some rather fascinating keychains being sold at one of my usual gadget shops. While one would normally find, varying shaped keychains, a PSP and a Nintendo DSi was something I wasn’t expecting. Even more interesting so, they looked just about 1/3 – 1/4 scale. Of course I had to get them.

And so, my girls wasted no time in getting down with their gaming. Rin got a bit too enthusiastic though.
